Galvecta 50mg tablet is an anti-diabetic medicine. Galvecta 50mg tablet contains Vildagliptin as an active ingredient. Vildagliptin belongs to a class of drugs known as dipeptidyl peptidase IV inhibitors (DPP-IV). Galvecta 50mg tablet is prescribed for adults with type-II diabetes mellitus. Galvecta 50mg tablet works by increasing the amount of insulin produced by the body. Galvecta 50mg tablet also decrease the amount of a substance called glucagon which is being produced by pancreas and helps to lower glucose levels.
USES: Galvecta 50mg tablet is used to treat type-II diabetes in adults. Galvecta 50mg tablets are also indicated for use in combination with insulin (with or without metformin) when diet and exercise and a stable dose of insulin do not provide proper glucose level control.
SIDE EFFECTS: Adverse effects associated with Galvecta 50mg tablets are: Dizziness, headache, nasopharyngitis. Galvecta 50mg tablet may also sometimes cause coughing, constipation, increased sweating. Serious side effects of Galvecta 50mg tablets are pancreatitis, mild and transient paresthesia, fever, edema.
PRECAUTION: Galvecta 50mg tablet should be cautiously used in haemodialysis. Galvecta 50mg tablet should be used with great caution in patients with a previous history of severe arthralgia. Consult to your doctor before taking a Galvecta 50mg tablet if you are pregnant. Galvecta 50mg tablet causes dizziness so do not drive or operate heavy machinery.
WHEN NOT TO USE: Galvecta 50mg tablet is not recommended for use in patients below 18 years of age as it is not safe for them. Galvecta 50mg tablets are not to be used in patients with hepatic impairment. Galvecta 50mg tablet must not be used by lactating mothers.
INTERACTION: Galvecta 50mg tablet may interacts with drugs namely:
Aripiprazole, Albiglutide, Alteplase, Clozapine, Dexamethasone, Dopamine, Acetazolamide, Gatifloxacin and Bexarotene.
DOSE:
For type-II Diabetes mellitus: Take a Galvecta 50mg tablet once a day orally.
